I am running Windows Mobile 6 on an Axim x51v. Everything works great on it except for scrolling. The scroll speed is really slow. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I'm running WM6 on the x51v as well and I have noticed the same problem. Is there anyone running WM6 on a different device that has noticed this problem?

I think it has to do with the VGA screen. 640x480 is 4 times the pixels as 320x240. It makes sense to me that it would be a lot slower when scrolling. I have used a Toshiba e800, HP HX4700 and an HTC x7500 (all VGA devices) and they all scroll slower than the QVGA devices I've owned.

I would tend to wonder if the issue is WM6. I run an Axim x50v and things are nice and fast for me. It is VGA but running WM2003. When I "upgraded" my Axim to WM5 all speed vanished in all programs. I quickly moved back to WM2003.

HP's newly released iPAQ 110 has the same slow scrolling problem too. It is QVGA, but it also has Windows Mobile 6. It might have something to do with hardware graphics acceleration with GAPI. Both the PXA310 on the iPAQ 110 and the 2700g on the x51v seem to exhibit this problem in Windows Mobile 6, both having GAPI hardware acceleration. It's just a guess, though, but I have not seen this problem in non-accelerated handhelds using WM6.
I am definitely willing to test betas to help. 3.0 Beta seems to be a quick fix to the quickmark overlap and double pop-up issues. For 3.0 to reach its full potential, be sure to keep the quickmark functionality and fix the slow scrolling. By the way, if this is of any help, as you scroll down further, it gets slower and slower. Please keep constructing your new famous Yanceyware version 3.0. I'm sure it will be a success. Keep working on it. ![]() |

I tried reproducing this slow-scrolling behaviour on the WM6 device emulator today, and unforutnatly, I couldn't cause the slow scroll. I don't yet have an actual WM6 device to test this with.
Could someone see if this is only a problem on Pocket PC devices, or if slow-scroll is also present on WM6 SmartPhone devices? Thanks. -- Bryce |

On my MDA which is WM5 the scrolling was superb. When I received the T mobile shadow, which is a smart phone and has WM6 on it, the scrolling speed reduced tremendously. I had to take off some of my books. And so to answer your question, slow scrolling is also prevalent on the smartphones as well.

I was searching for updates to the Football Axim x51v WM6 ROM today and stumbled across this possible fix:
http://www.lennysh.com/forums/showth...hp?p=40#post40 I downloaded and installed the CAB file and it seems to have fixed the slow scrolling problem. I also made the registry tweak mentioned two posts down from that post regarding GLYPHCACHE size. I'm not sure how much of a difference that might have made before installing the CAB fix. I tested it out on Psalms 119 and it worked great(once you get past the verse links at the top!). I'm not sure if this fix is applicable for all WM6 installations, but it certainly seems to work on the Football A03 ROM. |
